Accessibility

This site is built to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier or no stylesheet at all. It aims at WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

What that means in practice

• Every text and background pair is checked to at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio before release, and the build fails if any pair falls below it.
• Headings run in order, without skipped levels, so a screen reader's outline matches the page.
• Every image and inline graphic carries a meaningful text alternative.
• All functionality is reachable by keyboard, with a skip link as the first focusable element.
• Pages are plain HTML and remain readable if scripts or styles fail to load.
• Motion honours the operating system's reduced-motion preference.

Known limitations

Some pages carry wide data tables that require horizontal scrolling on a narrow screen. Documents on the sites we link to are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

Reporting a barrier

If any part of this site is difficult to use, please say so through the contact page, naming the page and what happened. Accessibility problems are treated as defects and fixed rather than logged.
